After having my Wii for over a year, I decided to upgrade to the latest System Menu (4.2U) to gets better game support and fix the Shop and Internet channels that have been broken ever since I first unlocked my Wii running System Menu 3.2. I also switched my backup loader from Wiigator to a slightly modified version of it called Neogamma. I used the Bannerbomber hack to get Homebrew Channel loaded on the new update rather than renting a game to do it like the old Twilight Hack (which has been replaced with a newer “Indiana Pwns” hack using LEGO Indiana Jones).
I was surprised after 2 hours of reading, downloading, and messing with various settings I had the latest Wii software playing my burned Wii games without a hitch. I love the Internet channel (Opera) and YouTube is fun to play with on a 60″ HD TV. It’s tweaks and hacks like this that make my Wii enjoyable and as long as there are clever people out there writing cool software to extend my Wii’s capabilities beyond Nintendo, I’ll keep playing it.
